5 Takeaways from the Heat Season Opener

Needing a statement introduction to the 2014-2015 season, the Heat did so by beating the Wizards 107-95. The AAA roared with a renewed sense of self exhibiting their Heat Nation pride and the players, especially one (more on that later) fed off that energy. Highlights abounded in what was mostly a tight game so let’s analyze a few:
1. King James…ENNIS!
Undoubtedly, the highlight of the night was James Ennis introducing himself to the national spotlight. We have said it before here on DHM and will not tire of repeating it again: This Kid is Special. With the posterizing dunk on Rasual Butler, Ennis revitalized the Heat allowing them to take over the game late and seal the victory.

2. CB1: The Leader
Heat Nation finally saw Chris Bosh become the team leader. It was evident Bosh was not going to leave any part of his game untouched showing himself able to be doing anything and everything on the court from rebounding and blocking, to assisting and, of course, scoring. Assuming the Number 1 option on this team was just what Bosh needed to revamp his game completely.

3. Miami-Wade County
Nothing but love and respect poured from the fans as the enduring image of the Heat, Dwyane Wade, hit the floor acknowledging his crowd. Obviously, there was a scare when Paul Pierce rolled over Wade’s legs in the third quarter but in his return, Wade showed why he still has a lot of Flash left in him.

4. Interesting Lineups
Something to keep an eye one during the season are the interesting lineups Coach Spoelstra is fielding at key points in the game. Having Chalmers, D-Wade, and Napier on the floor at the same time or Bosh and Birdman together, these lineups, far from being classic ones, will pose interesting issues for other teams that are not completely prepared to deal with such diversity.
5. Heat Nation Pride
Another point that DHM will relentlessly stress: Heat Nation Pride. It was extremely gratifying to see a full AAA for a team that Haters are obviously already dismissing from the get go. The electricity was felt everywhere demonstrating that this Heat team and the City of Miami is not going anywhere any time soon. If that irks the Haters, then ask us if we really care.
